PEI has a three-stage GDL program. Stage 1 is the Instruction Permit, which you must hold for at least one year (275 days with driver training). Stage 2 is getting your Class 5 licence after a road test, which comes with restrictions. Stage 3 is the full, unrestricted licence.
You must hold your Instruction Permit for a minimum of one year. This can be reduced to 275 days if you successfully complete a certified driver education program.
